CONGRATULATIONS NEW 1st & 2nd DAN SR. BLACK BELTS CAMP HILL (December 8) Congratulations to WSAMA's newest Black Belts: David Drinks  and Jacob Swink. Congratulations also to the following Jr. Black Belts who earned their 1st Dan Sr. Level:   Jesse Hazam, Sean Foer, Mary Millage, Kerry O'Connell, Sarah Markel and Phillip Peng. WSAMA CLOSED FOR THANKSGIVING In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the West Shore Academy will be closed Thursday and Friday (November 22-23). Enjoy the holiday!

NOVEMBER CHILDREN'S CLASS PROMOTIONS Children's Color Belt Promotions  are the week of November 5th.  Make sure to sign up for one of the available testing times and hand in paperwork by Tuesday November 6th.

CAPITOL CITY YOUTH CLASSIC RESULTS HARRISBURG (November 3) - Team Lion's Pride participated in its last karate tournament of the 2007 Season which started back in March with the Arnold Martial Arts Festival in Columbus, OH and ended with aCapitol City Classic in Central PA. Team Lion'searned a total of 31 trophies including (11) 1st Place, (8) 2nd Place, (7) 3rd Place and (5) 4th Place. Noteworthy was team members Deanna and Jessica Vergara who both won Grand Championships in their respective divisions for Forms/Weapons. Results were as follows:

HALLOWEEN SKATING PARTY Join us for our Annual Halloween Costume Party at Olympic Skating Sunday October 28th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.  Entrance is free to students, friends and family of the Academy. In-line and roller skates are available for rent. Hope to see everyone there!

SILVER SPRING FALL FEST 2007 The Academy's Spitfire Demo Team will be performing at this year's Silver Spring Fall Fest at Willow Mill Park on Saturday, October 13th @ 12pm. Enjoy the Fall weather, the demo team and the activities this festival has to offer. See you there!

PUMPKINFEST 2007 ENOLA (October 6 & 7) - The Academy enjoyed two days of summer-like  weather and a sense of community participating in this year's East Pennsboro's Pumpkinfest. On hand, WSAMA's Demo Team Spitfire wowed the crowd with martial arts entertainment during the early part of the festival on Saturday and Sunday.

NEW 3RD DANS HARRISBURG (September 29) - Sabumnims Steven Pataky and Stephen Brandt (pictured with Grandmaster Joe Fox) were recently promoted to 3rd Dan in Jung Sim Do after exhibiting forms, weapons, sparring and self defense. It was a tough test of spirit and skill as they achieved what was truly deserved and earned. Congratulations Sabumnims!

SEPTEMBER ADULTS CLASS PROMOTIONS Adults Color Belt Promotion is Saturday, September 8th at 10am. Please hand in paperwork by Wednesday September 5th.

BREATH OF NATURE KARATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS HARRISBURG (September 1) - Team Lion's Pride once again proved hard work pays off! Noteworthy was team member Deanna Vergara earning First Place in the three events of weapons, forms and fighting. Results were as follows:

WOMEN'S SELF-DEFENSE SEMINAR CAMP HILL (August 18) The WSAMA sponsored a women's self-defense seminar conducted by Master Fred Waters of the Institute of Self-Defense.  PA State Police Trooper Angel Garcia was the guest speaker explaining ways women can avoid the "opportunities" criminals are looking for in finding a victim. Trooper Garcia also spoke about the legalities of "use of force" when you have to fight back.  If there is interest for your group or organization to hold women's self defense workshops/seminars, please contact Master Vince Vergara at 761-3527. click here to see the news story covered by Fox43 News  broadcasted that same evening.

INDEPENDENCE DAY (July 24) The West Shore Academy will be closed Wednesday July 4th in observance of Independence Day.  WSAMA's Competition Team, Team Lion's Pride, will be competing at the Battle of Harrisburg during Harrisburg's American Musicfest celebrated during the 4th of July weekend celebrations on City Island on June 30th.

AMATEUR KICKBOXING RESULTS PLYMOUTH, PA (June 2)  Sheila Kirkpatrick won her first official full-contact kickboxing match at Grants Amateur Kickboxing Night in Plymouth.  The split decision win over her opponent, Krystal Koch, did not reflect the dominance exhibited by Ms. Kirkpatrick in three 2-minute rounds of pure pounding excitement. Sheila previously won a 2nd round TKO exhibition match against Emily Zeigler at Joerg's Raging Bull Kickboxing Show in Mechanicsburg on May 12. Congratulations Sheila!   

MEMORIAL DAY   (May 28) The West Shore Academy will be closed in observance of Memorial Day. Students of WSAMA participated in Camp Hill's Memorial Day Parade. We Click here for additional information regarding the parade!

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM GRADUATION MECHANICSBURG (March 5) - Master Vergara concluded Silver Spring Elementary's After School Martial Arts Program on Monday after six weeks of basic Jung Sim Do training. Great job kids!   

COMPETITION TEAM RETURNS FROM ARNOLD CLASSIC COLUMBUS, OH (March 4) - Team Lion's Pride definitely has something to be proud of returning from OH late Sunday night. WSAMA's Competition Team earned a total of 16 Gold medals, 5 Silver medals, and 1 Bronze medal to make them one of the most recognized groups of the competition. Click here for results and photos. WSAMA REPRESENTED AT VARIETY SHOW CAMP HILL (March 2) - WSAMA students from the Shepherdstown and Upper Allen Elementary schools performed a martial demonstration for their 20th Anniversary Variety Show held at Mechanicsburg Middle School. Dylan Van Nostrand, Jared Rebman, Kylie Peters, Austin Donat, Ryan Donat, Cassandra Donat and Preston Peters displayed skills of falls, kicks, fighting techniques, weapons and breaking. Great job kids! 

MRS. HAZAM PROMOTED TO 3RD DAN BY GRANDMASTER FOX HARRISBURG (January 27) - Sabumnim Karis Hazam (pictured above with Grandmaster Joe Fox) was promoted to 3rd Dan in Jung Sim Do after exhibiting forms, weapons, sparring and breaking. Her 3rd Dan eligibility came after 9 years of continued training and instructing. Congratulations Karis!
